One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well

Meals are an important part of our centre values. Teachers share in meal times with children to positively role model healthy eating and optimise learning and opportunities that meal times offer.

Meals (morning and afternoon snacks and lunch) are provided at Puddleducks’ Albert Street and Puddleducks’ Feilding with the exception of infant formula. Children are provided with water and milk to drink and offered a selection of fresh fruits.

A rotational menu provides children with variety. Menus are designed with consideration to age and food allergies of children. The infant and toddler menu is designed to suit individual needs. We are actively involved in the NZ Heart Foundation “Healthy Heart Award”.

Nutritious and delicious meals are prepared and delivered fresh from Puddleducks’ own catering kitchen where our catering team members all hold a NZQA (New Zealand Qualifications Authority) Unit Standard 167 -Practice Food Safety Methods in a Food Business.

Puddleducks’ Montessori Preschool provides children with morning tea snacks. Milk and water are provided. Children who attend the enrichment programme and full days are required to provide a healthy packed lunch, afternoon tea and contribute to the fruit roster.

We cook and bake with children as part of our curriculum.
